This is the story of a TV show that lost everything, and the one company who had no choice but to keep them all together.

OK, it’s a stretch, but I’m bloody GIDDY!  The Associated Press is reporting that Netflix (confirmed on the Netflix Twitter account), the company that’s finding ways to keep me paying, has partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Television and Imagine Entertainment to bring the Bluth family back from TV oblivion.

While it hasn’t been made clear yet which cast members will be returning, I PRAY that they all come back to the series that made them great.  I don’t think we have to worry about Jason Bateman.  He’s got a good head on his shoulders and I think he knows how important this is for the fans. I get the feeling he’d be on board (and if he wasn’t, I’m not sure we’d have a series worth watching anyway).  I also think that Jeffrey Tambor, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Jessica Walter, Tony Hale and Will Arnett would be on board.  Who I’m actually most concerned about is Michael Cera.

In the past, when they were talking about a movie, he was rather vocal and adamant about not appearing.  “I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway… I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD,” said Cera.  Eventually he was more or less brow-beaten (as the story goes) into signing on for the movie, but the idea that it’s still unknown who would be on board for the new series leads me to believe that any agreement he may have had for the film is not in effect here.

Personally, I do like Mr. Cera’s work and believe him to be a decent sort.  I hope he signs on.  I hope they all do.  I think the real joy of the series was the ensemble cast and that they all worked together so well to make the show work on so many levels.

And, lest anyone think I forgot, I do hope Alia Shawkat signs back on as Maeby.  The gem of Cera’s performance was his scenes with Shawkat and the incredibly awkward sexual tension between this match that just can’t happen!

Whatever comes of the rest of it, at least we know we’ll have producer Ron Howard’s impeccable narration to keep us going.

Of course we have to wait until 2013.  At least we know the world’s not supposed to end between now and then, right?
