I very rarely jump on the bandwagon in regards to YouTube videos and fan-made films, etc.

However, the newest STAR WARS parody is by far one of the funniest films I’ve seen!

In 2009, a project involving thousands of STAR WARS fans began which asked them to remake STAR WARS Episode IV: A New Hope into a fan film — 15 seconds at a time!

Every 15 seconds of this movie comes from a different group. Each was allowed to recreate scenes from the original film in any manner and media they wanted! Some of it’s live-action, some is animated.  All brilliant!

The original ’09 project won an EMMY in the Interactive Media category!

The “Director’s Cut” is a feature-length film that contains hand-picked scenes from the entire StarWarsUncut.com collection.

Besides the laughable STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL, which was sadly made by professionals, the closest parody that I can recall really being entertaining was a fan-made film called HARDWARE WARS from 1977…

And of course, Kevin Rubio’s TROOPS, featuring the galaxy’s finest and a surly Aunt Beru!

These are really great pieces of work on their own, and I think it continues to showcase the talents of regular people using a genre we all seem to love!
