Night of the Podwits! The cold weather is seeping into the Podwits’ bones, as the boys do their best impression of grumpy old men. They’ve decided that the Lady Gaga & The Muppets Holiday Spectacular, the iPotty and MTV all basically add up to the impending end of Western civilization as we know it. Whether you agree with ’em or not, you’re sure to get some laughs from this all-new Podwits Podcast!

On a recent trip back home to Leeds, I was excited to see the start of the yearly roll out of the new Christmas adverts.

It has become somewhat of a loving tradition which never really seemed to take off here in the States, much like our other custom of the highly-anticipated “Christmas Episode” of our favorite television shows. The premiere of the new Christmas adverts has become an institution for us, probably similar to the commercials people wait to see during the Super Bowl.

Every year, we eagerly await each Christmas advertisement, like the popular Famous Grouse Whiskey adverts and the latest supermarket extravaganza! The classic 1995 Coca-Cola “The Holidays are Coming” Truck commercial is a must for us and has been airing for many years in the UK  (it has become so popular that Coca-Cola have the truck tour around the country for people to see), and it really helps us kick off the Christmas season. Some of these adverts have become like mini-movies, and you immediately get absorbed into their story. Read the rest of this entry »

Technical Difficulties

Hello everyone.  My name is Gooshie.  I am the technical director for The Podwits.  Long-time listeners are probably surprised to see me writing in English.  As it turns out, English is my first language.  I honestly think The Podwits just pretend they don’t understand me so that they can ignore me.

At any rate, I’m here to bring you the sorry news that there won’t be a new episode of The Podwits Podcast this week.  No, it’s not because the three nitwits got too drunk on Thanksgiving and slept through the taping (though Lord knows I sometimes wish they would).  As it turns out, this time it is VERY MUCH my fault.  I’m sorry to say that I accidentally reversed the polarity of the neutron flow on the recording equipment and, for some reason, the audio came out so badly that the gold featured in this week’s cast is too badly garbled for human ears.  I do understand, however, that some dogs find it quite soothing.

At any rate, please join us next week for a brand new podcast, while I attempt to re-reverse the polarity (and hopefully not confuse it).

Doctor Who PodcastJ. Marcus, Brian and the Empress got together to watch the worldwide simulcast of the big Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, and were so filled with fannish glee they decided to fire up the ol’ microphone and podcast their immediate post-broadcast thoughts. Check out what they thought of all the twists, turns and fan service in this very special Podwits Podcast extra!

The PodwitsIt gets hot and heavy in this all new, freshly polished edition of the Podwits‘ Podcast! The boys get serious and philosophical, when speaking about the current news of the day such as the horrible “Knockout Game“, the Melissa Bachman debacle, leading the wits-of-pod to opine on such issues as animal rights, food prep, religion, morality, and Marvel Comics recent outting of Uncanny X-Men’s Benjamin Deeds (aka ‘Morph’). They round out the cast with the premiere of Fox’s Almost Human, Errol Morris’ amazing documentary Mr. Death, and Brian’s vast knowledge of coffee. So c’mon on down and have a listen to another fun, entertaining installment of the Podwits!

Side-CastsSide-CastsWell Dion and J. Blake are back again for another round in a late Fall (and pseudo) part 3 edition of their hugely popular “Horror Remakes” Side-Casts—butSide Casts this time around, instead of tackling the reinterpretations of classic fright films, the lads instead discuss what really scared them specifically as children; what films and television, and the overall culture of the 1980s and ’90s which played a role in shaping these cinemaphiles into horror fans. So come listen to the belated part 3 in their holy trilogy of terror!

The PodwitsThe Podwits try to work with an actual format… and no, sir, they don’t like it, not one little bit. But while they’re straining at the bonds of the rundown, our poorly-behaved wild children still manage to discuss the good and bad of collecting stuff, the New York Comic Con Twitter-hack scandal, Tim Daly’s video hilarity and the musical stylings of armed Russians. And plenty of other stuff besides. So grab a Belgian (a beer, not an actor) and have a listen to this all-new Podwits Podcast!

The PodwitsFor reasons that defy proper explanation, J and Dion delve into some of the worst that genre entertainment has to offer.  Waxing nostalgic over guilty pleasures like The Flash TV series and The Shadow feature film and trying desperately to forget misfires like CBS’ abortive Justice League TV pilot and fan films like The Death of Batman, the boys cover it all.  And while Dion has been kind enough to bring you the link to HALLOWEEN: HARVEST OF SOULS (featured below), good taste and the Geneva Convention prohibit the Podwits from including a link to what probably stands as one of the worst fan films ever made.  Count your lucky stars.  The good news is the boys have seen it all, and if you listen to their sage advice, you will find those hidden gems that could surprise you!

The PodwitsAll right, kids!  The title of this week’s podcast is no euphemism.  It represents an actual conversation that happened in this week’s podcast.  We guarantee you, it’s in there and not just as an aside!  Interested?  Then why not just hit ‘play’?
